1975 16.2 H Dutch Warmblood
stallion
AB-[CAN]APPR1335-75 S
Ancestry:
Marco Polo is a name that we
speak of with respect. This 'preferent' stallion has, like no
other, placed his stamp on Dutch breeding and the sport. He sired
11 approved sons - Recruut, Irco Polo, Legaat, Salvador, Topas,
Matador, Plutus, Miro, Interpol, Ico and Otto. In jumping, we
know Van Opstat's Orpheus, Pierrot, Jalisco and Old Man N. whilst
in dressage the names Monarch, Tasman and Piccolo are well known.
Recruut's dam Maril, by the Gelderlander
Apollo, goes back to the French bred 'preferent' sire L'Invasion
twice as the sire of Roland who sired Apollo, and as sire of
Wachtmeester, sire of the second dam.
Performance:
The jury of the 1978 performance
test had great expectations of the champion of that year. Recruut,
who was written up as a very talented show jumper at that time,
has proven himself easily since. With Albert Voorn, Recruut won
at Winschote, Aerdenhout and Eindhoven, competing in all arenas
with outstanding brilliance.
Foreign interest was therefore
quickly aroused, so at the end of 1982 Recruut went to Switzerland
where with Paul Weier his outstanding jumping ability was further
developed over international courses. In 1983 Recruut was licensed
in Switzerland for stallion service and was renamed Sansiero.
In 1990 he was brought back to the country of his origin, the
Netherlands.
Progeny:
Recruut is a horse that produces
excellent foals from plain mares. The foals show outstanding
movement with correct legs. Sirius and Waldemar are Recruut offspring
that compete at Prix St Georges level in dressage, whilst Serenade
S. Warco and Athletico Jz have come out in national jumping.
Another son is SillyPutty, who
in 1989 was Swedish Champion with the Young Riders. His grey
daughter Bikker was the 1990 Finland Champion and part of the
Finnish team.
